Towing Tips, Tricks and Tidbits: A Towing Services Blog

Hello! My name is Tony, and this blog is all about towing and towing services. I used to work for a small municipality, and we did everything, from clearing snow, to street sweeping, to towing abandoned vehicles, to cleaning up graffiti. Now, I work with my wife on a small sausage company we have created so I am no longer in that role. I have a bit more time than I did when I was working, and as a result, I get to spend extra time out on the trails with my Land Cruiser. Unfortunately, I sometimes get stuck playing in the mud. Luckily, I know a lot about towing. In this blog, I am going to share all of those tips with you. Thank you for reading!

As with everything else, communication is vital when it comes to towing services. Getting stuck out on the road because of car troubles is frustrating enough. The last thing you want to happen is contacting a towing company to help you out only to have an inconvenient experience because of poor communication.

When speaking to the dispatcher of the towing service, always be specific. Provide as much detail as you can and answer any questions that you may be asked.

1. Be Specific About The Type Of Service You Need

Most companies offer more than just towing service. If you need roadside assistance such as jump-starting a vehicle that won't start, need help to change a flat or burst tire, or have run out of fuel and need some brought out to you to help you get to the next refilling station, be sure to make it clear when you call.

Doing so will ensure that the team comes out prepared for the job. If you are having a mechanical problem that may be fixed, then the company will bring a mechanic out to you. If, on the other hand, you need some fuel, the company will be sure to carry enough fuel cans for you.

2. Be Specific About Your Location

When giving out details about your location, be as specific as you can get about where you need the emergency towing services. If you are unsure about it, communicate any landmarks around you or any that you may have seen along the way before you had your emergency.

Again, thanks to the tools of modern technology such as Google Maps, and other location apps, you should have no trouble pinpointing your exact location.

Be sure to communicate information that is accurate as this will help the towing service to deliver swift service with no unnecessary delays. If you give out inaccurate or vague information about your whereabouts, be prepared to wait a little longer for the towing trucks to arrive.

3. Be Specific About Your Vehicle Type

Towing services usually have different towing trucks suited for different types of vehicles. When making your call, ensure that you give details about your vehicle. Is it a saloon car, an SUV, a van, a bus, or a heavy-duty truck? Providing the right information will ensure that the service company brings a tow truck that is right for the job, making the process to move along smoothly and efficiently.
